Staff Attorney Valynda Jerome-Williams Accepts Isaiah J. Whitley-MCTSAA Legacy Award

The Mobile County Training School Alumni Association (MCTSAA) acknowledged the LSA Mobile Office with their Isaiah J. Whitley Legacy Award to acknowledge outstanding service provided to the AfricaTown community.

Staff Attorney Valynda Jerome-Williams accepted the award to honor her dedication to outreach efforts in AfricaTown over the past two years.

Attorney Jerome-Williams has focused her educational efforts in AfricaTown on heir property, probate matters and estate planning, including the drafting of wills and powers of attorney.

According to Mobile Managing Attorney Ann Brown, “land loss is a huge problem for the African American community.”

When Jerome-Williams began her outreach in AfricaTown she immediately recognized the necessity to continue providing intentional services for the community.

“The idea to bring legal resources to AfricaTown began with a single outreach event,” Attorney Jerome-Williams says. “After seeing the need for services, I knew I needed to obtain additional resources and plan additional services to help the community with estate planning, probate matters, land loss prevention and clearing title to heir property. LSA was the conduit for that.”
