Legal Services Alabama, Inc. (LSA) seeks a Grants Administrator to join our team. LSA is one of the largest statewide law firms in Alabama and provides free, client-centered civil legal advocacy to low-income Alabamians and collaborates with others across the state and nation to find solutions to systemic issues caused by poverty and social justice inequities. 

The Grants Administrator is crucial in supporting grant requirements for our organization. Located at our Central Office in Montgomery, AL, this position falls within the Finance Department and reports directly to the Grants Manager, while also maintaining a strong working relationship with the Director of Finance. The Grants Administrator will actively promote LSA’s mission, values, and principles both within our regional office and in the wider community.

Qualifications: This position is an exciting opportunity for an individual with exceptional attention to detail, a talent for meeting deadlines, excellent organizational skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative. The right candidate would have excellent communication skills, the ability to work within a team, and have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting. Experience with non-profit accounting is preferred as is experience working in organizations assisting low-income populations. A two (2) year or four (4) year degree in accounting, business, or management is also preferred.

Heir Property Project Staff Attorney – Huntsville, Alabama

The Heir Property Staff Attorney will provide legal representation in civil legal matters with a primary focus on matters connected to heir property. The primary focus of the position will be to educate communities about heir property and the legal problems that can arise surrounding it and also to assist clients in resolving issues related to heir property. The attorney will organize and attend trainings, clinics, and strategy sessions to assist attorneys, litigants, and community partners.  

The position will require travel around the State of Alabama.  

Qualifications: This position is an exciting opportunity for attorneys who are admitted to the Alabama Bar and who are passionate about serving low-income populations. Strong legal writing and communication skills are required. Preference is given to attorneys who are bilingual.

LSA seeks qualified candidates to serve as Managing Attorney in Selma, Alabama. The Managing Attorney provides direct supervision and management of office legal and support staff in the Selma Regional Office.The Managing Attorney will also be responsible for maintaining a caseload in LSA’s core areas, including consumer protection, education, eviction and foreclosure defense, protection of victims of domestic violence, public benefits cases, and other priority areas identified by LSA’s Board of Directors. The Managing Attorney will promote the visibility of LSA within the communities covered by the office and among the bar and judiciary.

Qualifications: This position is an exciting opportunity for an attorney who is admitted to the Alabama Bar and who has five or more years of experience with a Legal Aid organization or related subject areas. The ideal candidate is passionate about serving low-income populations and has excellent communication skills as well as good judgment.
