Legal Services Alabama (LSA) is searching for a law student interested in Elder Law to work with us this summer as the Law & Aging Summer Fellow for the Legal Assistance Enhancement Project (LAEP) in our Birmingham office.
The LAEP project work includes a wide variety of services related to keeping older adults independent, in their homes, and out of nursing homes whenever possible. The LSA LAEP team focuses on reaching the most underserved and isolated older adults in low-income, rural areas of Alabama.
The Law & Aging Summer Fellow will assist in a variety of projects including organizing legal clinics in low-income rural areas of Alabama, planning and conducting outreach, and building partnerships with community partners throughout the state that serve older adults. We are looking for a creative person who can assist with creating a new video series of legal information for older adults and help develop information for a new LSA Elder Law website.
The position is an excellent opportunity to develop client contact and communication skills through work with legal clinics and educational outreach events. Creative and compassionate students with an interest in serving older adults are encouraged to apply!
This position will start May 23rd and last through August 12th with a stipend of $5,000.

Legal Services Alabama (LSA) is searching for an exceptional law student to work with us this summer as the Black Voters Matter Summer Legal Fellow.
The fellow will assist in organizing clinics, conducting outreach, and building partnerships within communities throughout the state. The position will also be required to perform legal research and develop outreach strategies. The BVM Summer Legal Fellow will facilitate meetings with community partners and court representatives, including district attorneys and judges from circuits around the state. The fellow will help to organize clinics that will provide clients with an opportunity to file for expungements, clear warrants, and reinstate driver’s licenses.
This position will start May 23rd and last through August 12th with a stipend of $5,000.

LSA is seeking law students dedicated to serving low income communities and increasing access to justice across Alabama for our Summer 2022 Law Clerk Program. Summer clerks will assist LSA attorneys in representing clients, conducting legal research, drafting documents and memoranda, and supporting all aspects of the provision of legal aid services.
Summer Law Clerks also participate in our statewide Clerkship training program, our firmwide practice groups, and are able to take advantage of other timely and innovative initiatives and projects. Law students may be assigned to a particular office and/or practice area and will have strong mentors while expanding and enhancing client access and services.
Applicants are asked to express in their cover letter any preferences for location (Montgomery, Selma, Mobile, Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Anniston, Huntsville, or fully remote) and/or area of interests in the law. Summer Law Clerks typically work full time for 6 weeks sessions, split into either first or second half. LSA also offers full 12 week placement for a limited number of exceptional students.
