John(na) Jackson (pronouns: they/them) started as LSA's Communication Coordinator in June 2020. A recent masters graduate from the University of Cincinnati, they relocated back to the south during the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally from Macon, Georgia, where they also studied theatre and performance art, Jackson moved to Cincinnati in 2011 after traveling for a year with the nation's first coast-to-coast litter pick-up acting as the Director of Education Outreach.
A passionate advocate of environmentalism and social justice activism, Jackson is a skilled writer who completed undergraduate degrees in Journalism and Race, Gender, Sexuality studies. In their social theory MA program, they developed an interactive installation that challenged their community to explore the intersections of class, critical whiteness and sexuality studies.
Jackson creates LSA's marketing and outreach materials, including the animated Ask Al video series which answers some of our clients' most frequently asked legal questions. They also manage the layout and design of LSA's biannual journal, The Advocate.
Outside of work, Jackson volunteers their time doing advocacy work and facilitating communications for a growing network of incarcerated pen-pals in both Alabama and Ohio, with a focus on supporting queer and transgender people facing abuse inside.
