October Advocate of the Month

Our Advocate of the Month for October is Staff Attorney Rachelle Greczyn in our Dothan office. Greczyn joined LSA in July 2016 and specializes in the areas of: Family Law, Landlord-Tenant, Social Security Disability cases, domestic violence, public benefits, debt collections and mortgage foreclosures.

In a time where high numbers of people are experiencing extreme financial insecurity, Greczyn managed several cases in October that helped our clients keep money in their pockets.

In one case, Greczyn helped a 21 year old woman discharge $61,000 of medical debt accrued from a shoulder injury. The client was desperate for a fresh start, especially because of her age, and Greczyn helped her manage a significant amount of debt.

Greczyn also helped two clients end the wage garnishments taken out against their debt. She was also successful in getting the garnishments returned to her clients; one of whom is living in a hotel and requires his full income to manage daily expenses.

Not only did Greczyn help clients deal with their debt in October, she also provided legal support to several women facing issues of domestic violence.

One case involved a client who had previously taken out a protection from abuse order against her abusive husband. Despite the legal order, the client’s husband continued to believe his wife and her property belonged to him as long as they remained married. Greczyn successfully obtained a divorce for the client.

Greczyn also secured protection from abuse orders for two other clients, one of which included the abusive husband be ordered to surrender his firearms to the sheriff’s department.

For all this great work now and throughout the year, we’re celebrating Rachelle Greczyn as our October Advocate of the Month!
