Legal Services Alabama (LSA) recently added four new members to the organization’s Board of Directors – Tiffanie Agee, Interim Dean of Miles Law School, Alexia Borden, general counsel at Alabama Power Company, Rose Garner from the Black Belt Community Foundation and Josh Hayes from the Prince, Glover, & Hayes law firm.
Tiffanie Agee
Agee is the Interim Dean of Miles Law School. She teaches Legal Writing/Research, Agency & Partnership, and Corporations while maintaining a criminal, civil, trial, and appellate law practice. Agee is an active community member and serves on multiple organizations and committees, including the Alabama Lawyers’ Association, Birmingham Bar Association, and Magic City Bar Association. She is the Membership Chair for the Black Women Lawyers Association of Alabama, a member of the Government Relations Liaison Committee of the Alabama State Bar, and the Diversity and Inclusion Task Force Committee of the Alabama State Bar. She’s a Board member of Alabama Appleseed Center for Law and Justice and a member of the Alabama State Bar’s Leadership Forum Class 16.
Alexia Borden
Borden was elected as senior vice president and general counsel for Alabama Power Company in November 2017. She provides legal counsel to the Alabama Power Company management team and oversees ethics and compliance, concerns, legal services, risk services, and the corporate secretary’s office. In addition, Borden serves as general counsel for the Southern Company Services West Region, providing legal counsel for environmental, litigation, human resources and labor, contracts, and supply chain. Borden also serves on the board of directors for the Birmingham Zoo, Greater Alabama Council of the Boy Scouts, and Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama. She is a graduate of Leadership Alabama, Leadership Montgomery, the Alabama Leadership Initiative, and Signature Leaders.
Rose Garner
Garner has served on the board of Wilcox County Department of Human Resources since 2012. She is the community coordinator for the Black Belt Community Foundation (BBCF) Associates, where she organizes volunteers and public service providers to connect community members with available resources. Garner also researches and supports grants initiatives at the BBCF to ensure consistent funding for community betterment projects. Outside of the BBCF, Garner is the director at the Lily Baptist Community Center and Youth Development, Inc., and the site supervisor for the Lily Baptist Americorps Vistas. Garner is also a member of the Wilcox County Children Policy Council, Southern Rural Black Woman’s Initiative, and the National Council of Negro Women Wilcox County Section, Inc.
Josh Hayes
Hayes is a past-President of the Alabama Association for Justice where he serves on the Board of Directors, Elections Committee, Executive Committee, and Legislative Committee. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Good Samaritan Clinic, a Tuscaloosa medical clinic treating disadvantaged citizens of West Alabama who are without health insurance. Hayes is a Charter Member of the Advocates of Justice Fund Society, which raises money for the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation, of which he is a past-President of the Board of Directors. He is a member of the prestigious Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a distinction shared by only 1,000 lawyers in the United States. Hayes also contributes pro bono work through the Alabama Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyers Program. In 2020, he was named a West Alabama Young Leader of the Year by the United Way of West Alabama.
