December Advocate of the Month

December Advocate of the Month

While December was largely a time filled with holiday celebrations, for others in Alabama it was a continuation of economic struggles and a battle against the housing crisis. Thankfully, attorneys like Huntsville Lead Attorney, Pamela Jackson, remained hard at work to support their clients.

Throughout December Jackson aided several clients dealing with wage garnishments. In every case, Jackson was able to have the garnishment dismissed. These clients no longer deal with the stress of extreme cuts to their income and were able to learn more from Jackson about the best methods available to continue protecting their assets.

She was also able to help several clients stay housed and avoid experiencing homelessness.

In two different cases, Jackson was able to have stay orders put on pending evictions with default judgments. For both clients this involved working closely with Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) to expedite their applications. Both clients received their ERA funds, with each eviction dismissed.

In a case where the landlord was unwilling to participate with accessing ERA funds on behalf of a tenant facing eviction, Jackson represented the client in court, was given the necessary extension, and expedited her ERA application. The funds were sent to the landlord and the client remains housed.

Even when an eviction was unavoidable in one case, Jackson provided the client with the necessary time and resources to find new housing. The client was being evicted after the property she lived in was sold and her lease terminated. Jackson not only negotiated enough time for the client to find new housing, but that period also included the time for her to gather removable improvements she had made to the property, preserving assets in which she had invested.

For all of this and so much more, Pamela Jackson is our December 2021 Advocate of the Month. Thank you, Pamela, for all you do!
