IT Director

Legal Services Alabama (LSA), is one of the largest statewide law firms in Alabama. As a non-profit law firm, our mission is to serve low-income people by providing civil legal aid and by promoting collaboration to find solutions to problems of poverty. LSA seeks applications from qualified persons for an IT Director position. This is a full time position located at LSA’s headquarters in Montgomery, Alabama.

The IT Director will plan, coordinate, direct and design IT-related activities of the organization, as well as provide administrative direction and support for the daily operational activities of the IT Department. The IT Director will work with other staff to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of LSA. The IT Director will define and implement IT policies, procedures, best practices and will promote LSA’s mission, values and principles within the organization and community.    

QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree in IT or related field.  Five or more years of related experience. Master of Business Administration with technology as a core component preferred. Supervisory experience. Industry certifications a plus.  Ability to work timely and effectively independently or as part of a team.  Must be able to travel.

Administrative Assistant — Selma, Alabama

LSA seeks applications from qualified persons for an Administrative Assistant position in our Selma Regional Office.  The Administrative Assistant will perform administrative duties in a fast paced law office and communicate frequently with staff, community members and clients.  The Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Managing Attorney. 

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with non-profits or low income population preferred.  A high school diploma or equivalent with two (2) years’ experience in customer service, secretarial, office or other related field.  Ability to perform various administrative duties. Computer proficiency and the ability to work in data base systems required. Bi-Lingual encouraged to apply.

Staff Attorney (Domestic Violence) — Montgomery, AL

LSA seeks applications from qualified attorneys committed to supporting our mission.  This is a full time position located in our Montgomery Regional Office.  

The attorney will provide community outreach and civil legal representation to address the needs of domestic violence clients. Much of the legal work will focus on immediate safety needs of the client to include protection orders but the attorney will assist the client in other areas of legal work that include: housing, consumer protection, education, custody, employment, public assistance needs, and other priorities established by the Board of Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Admitted to practice in the State of Alabama or willing to take necessary steps to be admitted to Alabama bar within 6 months of employment. Sensitivity towards low-income population.  

Spanish language proficiency desirable.

Call Center Contract Attorney

Legal Services Alabama (LSA), is one of the largest statewide law firms in Alabama. LSA seeks applications from qualified attorneys to assist clients who access services through the Call Center.  The attorney must be fluent in Spanish and committed to supporting our mission. This is a part-time (20 hours per week) contract position.

The Call Center Attorney will provide screening assistance for our statewide team of Intake Specialists, and provide civil legal representation by phone and written communications in family law, housing, consumer protection, public benefits, unemployment compensation and other priorities established by the Legal Services Alabama Board of Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Admitted to practice in the State of Alabama or willing to take necessary steps to be admitted to Alabama bar within 6 months of employment.
