Contract Case Manager – Mobile Alabama

Legal Services Alabama, Inc. (LSA) is a statewide non-profit law firm that pursues its mission to serve low-income people by providing civil legal aid and by promoting collaboration to find solutions to problems of poverty. 

LSA seeks to contract for a Case Manager who will assist clients through funds awarded through the County of Mobile.  This position is expected to last approximately one year. Under the Managing Attorney’s general supervision, the Case Manager will determine client eligibility, develop and provide a comprehensive plan, implementation and evaluation of clients who qualify for the CDBG Program. 

The Case Manager will help with intake, return phone calls, conduct screening and file management. This position requires flexibility, attention to detail and deadlines, organizational skills, strong computer skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and take the initiative. The Case Manager will work with other team members to develop goals and timelines for the successful implementation of the project. The Case Manager will comply with LSA’s mission, values, and principles within the regional office, the organization, and the community.

Qualifications:

Experience with non-profits and low-income population preferred.  A one-year certificate from college program or technical school or commensurate experience.

LSA seeks qualified candidates to serve as Managing Attorney in Montgomery, Alabama. 

The Managing Attorney provides direct supervision and management of office, legal and support staff in the Montgomery Regional Office. The Managing Attorney will also be responsible for maintaining a caseload in LSA’s core areas, including consumer protection, eviction and foreclosure defense, protection of victims of domestic violence, public benefit cases and other priority areas identified by LSA’s Board of Directors.  The Managing Attorney will promote the visibility of LSA within the communities covered by the office, and among the bar and judiciary. 

Qualifications: Admitted to practice in the state of Alabama or willing to take necessary steps to be admitted to Alabama bar within 6 months of employment. Experience working with low-income population preferred.  Minimum five years’ experience in legal aid services or related substantive areas.  Supervisory experience preferred.  Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

Spanish language proficiency desirable.

LSA seeks applications from qualified persons for a Grant Writer. This is a full-time position.  LSA’s headquarters is in Montgomery, Alabama.  Remote work is possible.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Development, the Grant Writer will research, develop, write and apply for various grants that meet the organization’s needs.  The Grant Writer provides high-level assistance to the Director of Development throughout the grant cycle and will oversee the grant application process from beginning to end.  Excellent written skills, flexibility, attention to detail and deadlines, organizational skills and ability to maintain confidentiality, sound judgment, and initiative. The Grant Writer will promote LSA’s mission, values and principles within the regional offices, the organization as a whole and the community.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.  Experience with non-profits preferred.  At least two (2) years’ experience in successful grant writing. Must be self-motivated and organized. Ability to work timely and effectively; independently or as part of a team.
