Legal Services Alabama (LSA), is one of the largest statewide law firms in Alabama. As a non-profit law firm, our mission is to serve low-income people by providing civil legal aid and by promoting collaboration to find solutions to problems of poverty. LSA seeks applications from qualified paralegals committed to supporting our mission.  This is a full-time position located in our Selma Regional Office.  

Under the Managing Attorney’s supervision, the paralegal will participate in community outreach and assist in providing civil legal services in the areas of consumer protection, housing, unemployment compensation, family law, probate matters and other priorities established by the Board of Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS

A paralegal degree or the willingness to take and pass the paralegal certification within 12 months of employment. Knowledge of the legal system, familiarity with legal software systems and Microsoft Office computer skills. Demonstrates sensitivity towards low-income population and elderly clients. Ability to work timely and effectively, independently or as part of a team.

Staff Attorney—Montgomery, AL

Legal Services Alabama (LSA), is one of the largest statewide law firms in Alabama. LSA seeks applications from qualified attorneys committed to supporting our mission. This is a full time position located in our Montgomery Regional Office.

The attorney will provide community outreach and civil legal representation to address the needs of domestic violence clients. Much of the legal work will focus on immediate safety needs of the client to include protection orders but the attorney will assist the client in other areas of legal work that include housing, consumer protection, education, custody, employment, public assistance needs, and other priorities established by the Board of Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Admitted to practice in the State of Alabama or willing to take necessary steps to be admitted to Alabama bar within 6 months of employment. Sensitivity towards low-income population. Experience in legal aid services or related substantive areas. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Spanish language proficiency desirable.

LSA seeks applications from qualified paralegals for its Alabama Program for the Enhancement of Elder Legal Services (APEELS) project.  This is a full-time position located in our Montgomery Central Office.  

Under the APEELS Project Attorney’s supervision, the Paralegal will assist in providing direct legal services to older Alabamians.  The Paralegal will help implement, document and evaluate project goals; assist in coordinating and participate in community outreach clinics; assist in developing written materials for education and seminars; and engage with other service providers to meet the needs of clients or potential clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

Coordinating Project Attorney—Dothan, Alabama

Legal Services Alabama (LSA), is one of the largest statewide law firms in Alabama. As a non-profit law firm, our mission is to serve low-income people by providing civil legal aid and by promoting collaboration to find solutions to problems of poverty.   

LSA seeks applications from qualified attorneys for its Alabama Program for the Enhancement of Elder Legal Services (APEELS) project.  The APEELS Attorney will enhance and expand services to older persons in Alabama’s Wiregrass counties (Houston, Henry, Coffee, Dale, Covington, Butler, Barbour, Geneva).  The position will be located in a LSA’s Dothan Regional office.   

The Coordinating Project Attorney will provide a full range of direct legal services to benefit older Alabamians, coordinate and implement project goals, provide community education clinics, circuit ride to the rural service areas, develop and publish brochures, help supplement the services of pro bono attorneys and coordinate Elder Law Seminars.   Supervise project staff.
