Legal Services Alabama, Inc. (LSA) is a statewide non-profit law firm that pursues its mission to serve low-income people by providing civil legal aid and by promoting collaboration to find solutions to problems of poverty. 

LSA seeks to contract with an Attorney to provide legal services to help prevent homelessness in Mobile Alabama.  The contract is expected to remain in effect for one year.  This project is sponsored by a grant through the City of Mobile.

As a non-profit law firm, our mission is to serve low-income people by providing civil legal aid and by promoting collaboration to find solutions to problems of poverty. LSA seeks applications from qualified attorneys committed to supporting our mission.  This is a full time position located in our Selma Regional Office. 

The attorney will provide community outreach and civil legal representation in family law, housing, consumer protection, public benefits, unemployment compensation and other priorities established by the Board of Directors. 

Qualifications: Admitted to practice in the State of Alabama or willing to take necessary steps to be admitted to Alabama bar within 6 months of employment.  Sensitivity towards low-income population. 

Spanish language proficiency desirable.

Contract Attorney - Huntsville

Coordinating Project Attorney Alabama

Legal Services Alabama (LSA) is a statewide non-profit law firm that pursues its mission to serve low-income people by providing civil legal aid and by promoting collaboration to find solutions to problems of poverty. LSA seeks a Coordinating Project Attorney (CPA) to support our mission through its Rural Economic Improvement Project. This project is sponsored, in part, by a grant from the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation. The position maybe located in Montgomery or Birmingham.

The Coordinating Project Attorney hired for this position will organize and conduct legal clinics focusing on financial literacy, consumer and foreclosure problems in Alabama’s rural underserved areas. The CPA is responsible for distributing outreach materials, training and collaborating with community groups, businesses and pro bono attorneys. The CPA will provide legal representation in civil legal matters with a focus on consumer, housing, family and public benefits. 

Qualifications: Admitted to practice in the State of Alabama or willing to take necessary steps to be admitted to Alabama bar within 6 months of employment. Sensitivity towards low-income population. Experience in legal aid services or related substantive areas preferred. 

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Spanish language proficiency desirable.
