Court Debt Project Staff Attorney – Alabama

Legal Services Alabama (LSA) is a statewide non-profit law firm that pursues its mission to serve low-income people by providing civil legal aid and by promoting collaboration to find solutions to problems of poverty.  LSA seeks a Court Debt Project Attorney (CDPA) to support our mission through its Court Debt Project.  This project is sponsored, in part, by a grant from the SPLC.  The position will be located in a LSA office to be determined.   

The CDPA hired for this position will advocate for waiving or reducing client court debt and assist them in avoiding penalties due to inability to pay.  The CDPA will develop and coordinate intake procedures to identify prospective clients and streamline services. The CDPA will organize and conduct legal materials, trainings, clinics and strategy sessions to assist attorneys, litigants and community partners.

QUALIFICATIONS

Admitted to practice in the State of Alabama or willing to take necessary steps to be admitted to Alabama bar within 6 months of employment. Sensitivity towards low-income population. Experience in legal aid services or related substantive areas. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

Spanish language proficiency desirable.​

IT Help Desk Analyst I

Legal Services Alabama (LSA), is one of the largest statewide law firms in Alabama. LSA seeks applications from qualified persons for an IT Help Desk Analyst I position.  This is a full time position located at LSA’s headquarters in Montgomery, Alabama.  

The IT Help Desk Analyst I will report to the IT Director.  The IT Help Desk Analyst I will provide timely and reliable technical assistance and support to LSA Staff related computer systems, hardware and software.  Answer queries on basic technical issues, run diagnostic programs, implement solutions.  The IT Help Desk Analyst I will promote LSA’s mission, values and principles within the organization and the community.  

QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor degree in IT or related field preferred but not required. Two or more years of related experience.  Industry certifications preferred but not required. Ability to work timely and effectively, independently or as part of a team.  Must be able to travel.

Client Access Manager—Montgomery, Al

This position is responsible for managing client access into LSA’s court based assistance programs; supporting innovative access to justice programs; assisting pro se litigants; managing LSA’s Private Attorney Involvement Programs; monitoring LSA’s intake system and providing current marketing materials to recruit volunteer attorneys.  

QUALIFICATIONS

Admitted to practice in the State of Alabama or willing to take necessary steps to be admitted to Alabama bar within 6 months of employment.  Sensitivity towards low-income population.  Five or more years’ experience in legal aid services or related substantive areas. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

IT Systems Administrator

LSA seeks applications from qualified persons for an IT Systems Administrator position.  This is a full time position located at LSA’s headquarters in Montgomery, Alabama.  

The IT Systems Administrator will report to the IT Director.  The IT Systems Administrator will manage and tune in-house computer software systems and network connections to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications. The IT Systems Administrator will participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with industry standards, best practices and regulatory requirements. The IT Systems Administrator will promote LSA’s mission, values and principles within the organization and the community.  

QUALIFICATIONS

Staff Attorney (Domestic Violence) — Montgomery, AL

Legal Services Alabama (LSA), is one of the largest statewide law firms in Alabama. As a non-profit law firm, our mission is to serve low-income people by providing civil legal aid and by promoting collaboration to find solutions to problems of poverty. LSA seeks applications from qualified attorneys committed to supporting our mission.  This is a full time position located in our Montgomery Regional Office.  

The attorney will provide community outreach and civil legal representation to address the needs of domestic violence clients. Much of the legal work will focus on immediate safety needs of the client to include protection orders but the attorney will assist the client in other areas of legal work that include: housing, consumer protection, education, custody, employment, public assistance needs, and other priorities established by the Board of Directors.
